A SUNDAY TO REMEMBER A big thank you to everyone involved in the Variety Show on October 19th, our contribution to the Thatcham Festival. Despite limited publicity we attracted an audience of over 50 and they lapped up a high quality performance. AN ARRAY OF HIGH QUALITY ACTS Pam Knowlden sang three numbers, Jo Dunwell gave a violin virtuoso, and Andy duetted separately with Claire B, Jon L and Mike C. Mandy's mischievous "children" milked the Nativity Play for lots of laughs, and there were much deserved guffaws for Chris, Jon and Dave V. in "The Healer". Much hilarity was also generated by "Bold Sir John" (2 worthy KATS minstrels) and "Mastermind 2003" (the 2 Mikes, B and C). The 2004 Pantomime got a preview with Swanny Schwimmer's training camp scene. Our talented dancers provided three numbers, Mack the Knife" and "Sweet Home Chicago", plus Kirstie and Claire exciting us all with "Dancing on the Sidewalk". Add in one Boyband number and two highly effective and amusing monolgues from Andy, and this show proved a great shop window for the group's talents. APPRECIATION FROM THE COMMUNITY It was nice to be joined by the Mayoral party for this occasion, and can I please endorse Cllr June Judge's thanks and congratulations to all the performers, and especially to Martin, who can rarely have been worked harder as an accompanist. Also to those who were "front of house", and to Carl, John and Mike S. who are more "back of hall". And if I've missed anybody out, thanks to them too. MIKE BROOK |
